The future of design & printing machines.
As an initial explanation, the printing technique we use is a printing technique utilizing rotogravure printing machines. The BOPP roll is printed separately & then laminated (bonded) to the PP woven roll (or sack). The combination of these two types of plastic is called converting. Compare this with the screen printing technique (sablon) which uses rubber molds on the surface of the plastic sack. This rotogravure technique is very beautiful, even though the color brightness drops by 15% from the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) mode which is the digital display. Compared to the screen printing technique, rotogravure printing is far superior.
Meanwhile, the “old” technique used is CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow & Black). Recently, a new “color” technique has emerged using 5 special colours to replace CMYK + white. More precisely, 5 special colours + white. The idea to replace CMYK plus with 5 special colors “revolutionizes” the ‘color technique’ & also design. This forces the design to be made simpler & more elegant, & uses less photography, more animation (less is more). As a reference, the CMYK technique uses a ‘rule’ of a maximum of 3 primary colors. 5 special color doesn’t have that constraint.
Secondly, color gradients are also reduced, replaced by ‘full block’ color so the colors are more ‘alive’. The second technical method is replacing CMYK plus with sp blue, sp red, sp yellow. This method has the potential to replace the CMYK color mixture with sp colour & has the advantage of saving as many as 3 printing cylinders. Example: CMYK white + sp blue + sp red + sp yellow replaced with sp blue + sp red + sp yellow k & white. Once again, the design must be readjusted.
Thirdly, AI (Artificial Intelligence). AI tools are very important for increasing work efficiency & creativity. We have already seen how AI can create Design Mockups in a matter of seconds. Before we continue, let’s dissect the design composition. Design for Rotogravure Sack packaging can usually be separated into logo images (Digitally Hand Painted), background images & Branding text. By using AI, we can create Designs in Digital form. The advantage, besides being fast, is that we can make Revisions quickly, in a matter of seconds. Once the Design is approved, we can construct the Full ‘Layer Design’ to make it Print Ready.
Another way is combining AI with “Layer Design”. Example: we use AI to create a Logo, for instance, a Dragon, and blend it with a Photographic Background picture. After the Final Approval for the design is given, the Dragon logo is Digitally Hand Traced, for example, using Adobe Photoshop.Printing Machine
